Huanchaco is a fishing village known around the world for its great waves and friendly people, and its only minutes from where we live. Fishermen still ride totora reed boats called "Caballitos", something they have been doing for thousands of years, way before the Incas. When the fishermen return to shore, they still use a long paddle to catch the wave on their knees, or standing up. It's possible that these waves brought forth the very first surfers.
