2010 olympics

We had so much fun watching the Olympics this year from Peru. It definitely gave us a new appreciation for our heritage, but more than that, an appreciation for the how Olympic games unites the world. Despite its climate made up of rain forest, desert coast and mountains (which have a desert climate without much rainfall), Peru did have some participants in the winter games. Cross country skier Roberto Carcelen (39), who lives in Seattle (I knew you'd appreciate this, Aunt Lil) and alpine skiers Manfred Oettl Reyes (16) and Ornella Oettl Reyes (18), who are brother and sister, were the Peruvian representatives. Little by little, this country is moving forward, and it is exciting to see.
